‘Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites’: Jeff Probst hypes up season, talks future

SurvivorWhen you consider that we still have a long wait ahead until “Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites” comes back on the air, we have to do something to buy our time; and at this very moment, that is coming via a rather random Twitter Q&A session that Jeff Probst decided to have in the middle of the night earlier this week.

When it comes to actual “Survivor” news, there were two interesting things to come out of it: Probst does still believe that the show can go 30 seasons (or possibly longer), and on this alone we believe him, especially when you consider how many other CBS shows are losing ratings and the show’s quality was sensational in the fall.

On a different note, he said that the odds of Wanda Shirk, who was of course the singing lady who never even made in on a tribe in Palau, coming back are pretty “unlikely.” While he was only talking specifically about this one person, you still have to wonder whether or not there is any hope at the moment that a “Second Chance” season could ever happen. After all, the primary problem with making this show would be trying to assemble a cast that semi-casual fans would remember, and while we would love to see people like Wanda, Cao Boi, and Bobby Mason play again, this may not be worthy of going on anybody’s dream board (to steal an idea from Ashley Iocco on “Big Brother”).

Probst also took advantage of the opportunity to once again hype up the show’s next season, “Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites,” to ridiculous levels:

“New season of Survivor hits the air in Feb. It’s gonna be fantastic. Dare I say – better than Survivor: Philippines? :) Okay I’ll say it!”

People have accused Probst of being the boy who cried wolf when it comes to “Survivor” seasons, but he insists that there is something special coming; and if it turns out like the first “Fans vs. Favorites” back in Micronesia ten seasons ago, we will surely not be disappointed.

Stay tuned, as we will have the official cast details for this season as soon as CBS announces them. (We know that there are cast lists floating around out there, but we like to keep things by the book around these parts.) If you want to see our own personal dream cast for the season, you can do so here.
