NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale review: Did Cassadee Pope (and Blake Shelton) win?

Cassadee PopeGoing into Tuesday night’s “The Voice” season 3 finale, there was really one question that we were curious about: did Cassadee Pope actually have a chance at losing the whole competition? We’re not sure that there has been such a universal favorite to win a singing show since Carrie Underwood back in season 4 of “American Idol,” and the early iTunes sales suggested before the show that she was clearly going to be the one to take home the title and follow up Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul.

Before the results happened, of course “The Voice” continued the singing-show tradition of presenting us with a bloated finale featuring performances from musical guests, artists who were sent home weeks ago, and a continual reminder that De’borah should have at least made it to the top eight, if not all the way to the finale. (We will never forgive Christina Aguilera for that.) We do have to say, though, that we really enjoyed the Green Day number featuring the four coaches at the end. Dare we say it, but we were genuinely moved.

Considering how big of a favorite Cassadee was, it also felt like the show was just buying its time before making the announcement. The only real suspense was actually who ended up being the artist in second place. It was Nicholas David, thus proving that Blake Shelton is at the moment the coach that you want to pick due to his fan following alone. Cassadee of course won, and Terry McDermott is in second place.

What did you think about the finale, and did the right person win in your mind? Be sure to share your thoughts below! If you already want to take a first look at the promo for season 4 (which features none other than the debut of Shakira and Usher as judges), all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
