‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: The necromancer effect
There are some episodes that only “Supernatural” can pull off, and without even hearing all of the details about this next story, you would probably still be very quick to point out just what show is being talked about here the moment that someone mentions the words “Nazi necromancers.”
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, here is what executive producer Jeremy Carver had to say about this very thing, which is indeed going to be a component of an upcoming episode of the CW show at some point following its return to the air this January:
“There will be an episode dealing with Nazi necromancers … It was written by Ben Endlund, so you know that’s going to be fun.”
So what will the end result of this be? At the moment, we really have no idea … except for the fact that it is probably going to be awesome. This joins some of the other crazy episodes that we know are coming up moving forward into season 8, including one featuring live-action role-playing (with the return of Felicia Day from “The Guild”), and another one that places the spotlight front and center on a man who is basically in love with the human form of his dog (another thing that can really only be done on “Supernatural”).
The show as a whole will return to The on Wednesday, Janaury 16, so take some solace in the fact that it is less than a month away for more Winchester goodness. Granted, we have a feeling that this time is going to tick away slower than the second leading up to the start of every episode.

I agree about balance. I may not be a fan of the MOTW episodes, but I know there are many fans who are. As long as they keep the over arching myth arc for the season, I’m fine with random MOTW episodes here and there. Personally, for the most part, I’d say Carver has done a surprisingly good job at mixing the two together while expanding what there is to know about the SPN universe, especially with regards to Crowley and his powers. Hope it keeps up.

I just want the boys to deal with their issues and get back to business. The Sam & Amelia story is becoming soap opera and watching Sam and Dean rip each other apart isn’t entertaining. MOTWs can be fun, and we need to get more on the myth arc.

They’re paying attention to the overall mytharc, we have seen episodes with Samandriel who bid on the tablet and was captured and tortured for all the names of prophets who could read the word. We also heard Kevin say that there is a compedium of tablets and we met the mysterious Naomi who ordered Cas to help the Winchesters and to keep her informed. These have been scattered throughout the episodes.

I, for one, am very excited to see how the MOTWs to come will tie in with the overall myth arc and what the characters are going through. High hopes!

I actually enjoy MOTW episodes when they’re good, I just don’t think they’re that great in recent years. I think there is just so much damn angst that it takes away some of the scariness and fun of a good MOTW.

I would also like to see a return to the myth arc of this season, with Kevin, Crowley, Linda, Naomi, and of course, our favourite angel Cas.

I’m really looking forward to the first episode back “Torn and Frayed,” as it seems to focus a great deal on Team Free Will. I enjoy these Dean, Sam, and Cas (as a group) episodes and I hope Cas returns quickly following this episode. As for the upcoming ‘funny’ episodes? I like when we have these ‘off the wall’ episodes – – occasionally. However, SPN seems to be losing sight of the theme of the season, which was suppose to be the search for the Word of God, angels, and demons. Perhaps Jeremy Carver is stretching the theme out, so he can carry it over into season nine (?).
