‘Glee’: Lea Michele dispels “diva” rumors, talks Kate Hudson

Lea MicheleBefore appearing on “Glee” Lea Michele was already a big Broadway star, but since being on the hit Fox series portraying Rachel Berry she’s become a household name and people can’t stop talking about her.

Michele’s character of Rachel is a bit of a diva on “Glee” and rumors quickly spread that Michele herself was difficult to work with on set as well. Is it because people can’t separate who she is and the character she plays on television or is there any truth to the diva rumors she has been fighting against for years? In a new interview with Marie Claire, Michele opens up about the diva rumors and says that they aren’t true, but that she isn’t afraid to speak her mind on set.  She said:

“I am a very outspoken person, and if something makes me uncomfortable, you will know that it makes me uncomfortable, but that’s as far as it goes. I can assure you that [the diva rumors] aren’t real. It’s super-frustrating sometimes, and I used to fight back, but now I feel like, ‘You can think what you want about me — that’s OK.’ I have the most amazing fans, friends, and family members who have stood by me, and I know that my cast and crew really enjoy working with me. That’s all that matters.”

When Kate Hudson started working on “Glee” she was working closely with Michele as her “NYADA teacher”, so if anyone would know if the rumors were true it’d likely be Kate.  When stories started to populate on the internet saying that Hudson found it impossible to work with Michele, Kate called her right away to tell her that the stories were completely fabricated.  Lea said:

“[Kate Hudson went] straight to the top of my list because it was so classy of her to take a minute to [address the rumor], even though we both knew it was the biggest piece of crap in the whole world. I told her, ‘I love you, and I adore you. Thank you so much for creating a human moment with me.'”

It’s hard sometimes to separate the character from the actor, but it’s an important distinction to make.  If you are looking for more “Glee” season 4 news, be sure to check out our story about Alex Newell singing “Joy to the World” on the next new episode of “Glee”.
