‘The X Factor’ UK drama: Why did Christopher Maloney skip final show?

Just when you thought that all of the tabloid stories surrounding “The X Factor” UK were over, just wait until you hear about all of the conflict brewing surrounding the exit of Christopher Maloney.

Here is what is being “officially” said: after being exhausted and under the weather following an intense season of shows, Maloney returned home to Liverpool rather than taking part in the final on Sunday. His absence was in fact notable, but most of the other contestants made up for it with a great spirit and plenty of strong performances.

However, if you listen to the tabloids, then there is a very different story being told. According to the Daily Mail, Maloney was upset over only getting a single line during the final group performance on Sunday, and he eventually stormed off to his hotel after showing up late to begin with (which is something that has been talked about in the tabloids for much of the season). There are also rumors that he got into a massive verbal fight with Carolynne Poole, the first contestant to be sent home during the live rounds. Christopher has seemingly accused Carolynne of leaking the story since.

In addition to denying all of the gossip, Maloney is also claiming now that he is being “bullied” by the tabloids, and that this is just one final round of a “witch hunt” designed to humiliate him over getting so far in the competition.
