‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 7: Ian Somerhalder, Gabby Douglas speak

Gabby DouglasThursday night’s all-new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” season 4 is going to do more than just mark the return of Miss Mystic Falls to the world of the show; it will also provide us with our first real opportunity to see Olympian Gabby Douglas in action in her cameo appearance. The gymnast has been a longtime fan of the show, and the cast even created a congratulatory video after hearing that she was a viewer and that she won the all-around gold.

So how will Douglas be involved in the episode? That much remains largely a mystery, but she tells TV Guide in a new interview that the experience of being not only on the set, but playing a character was quite frankly “amazing.” In addition to that, she also said that she was firmly on “Team Damon,” which we are sure must feel like a blow for all the Stefan fans.

Speaking of Damon, Ian Somerhalder also opened up to Entertainment Weekly about how this episode is going to harken very much back to the first Miss Mystic Falls pageant all the way back in the first season of the show, as it helps to illuminate some of the passion and the spirit that was once there between his character and Elena:

“Remember, in the first season they had this dance where you could feel, really for the first time, that cool chemical attraction that they had … Seeing this again … and seeing both of them recognizing it and sort of internalizing it, it’s cool.”

Will this be the episode that Damon and Elena finally take the plunge? It still feels a little soon given that she did just break up with Stefan, but anything is possible when you have a young vampire with emotions all over the place.
