‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 9 review: Nick gets drunk; Cece gets sad

Tuesday night’s “New Girl” season 2 episode was at times ridiculous, at times hilarious, and even at times moving. Why? Let’s just say that it was interesting to see the writers juxtapose what was a very serious story alongside something that was important and moving to every woman.

Let’s start with the heavy story, which is one of the few major cases of progression for some of these characters all season long. After Jess spend the entire episode freaking out that she was getting older and would be unable to have children soon, it turned out that she was not only in great shape, but actually above average. On the flip side, Cece was in such a poor state that she pretty much needed to have children now if she wanted to actually make it happen someday. Sadly, we still do not know whether or not she ended up telling her boyfriend Robbie about it, but he is not interested in having kids right now.

So could Schmidt someday be the perfect dad? If nothing else, he is on the market again … and in need of some serious encouragement after having his abilities in the sack completely decimated. On the silly side, we also had Nick hilariously trying to become Ernest Hemingway in an attempt to finish a zombie novel, which was really just a way to trace back to his irrational fear of finishing anything. When he did manage to make it happen, an exhausted Winston ever read it out loud.
