‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: The death confirmed to be…

Earlier this month, we first presented a teaser that someone was going to die on season 9 of “Grey’s Anatomy,” and they would also be doing so soon. Now, we know just who this person is; and while this is hardly going to be surprising compared to what we saw from both Chyler Leigh and Eric Dane, it will still be a very sad exit in that they are someone who has been a key component of the show for some time.

According to TV Guide, the person who is set to die is none other than Adele Webber, who has been stricken with Alzheimer’s and has spent the past year or so in a care facility. Loretta Devine says that she has already filmed her final two episodes, and they are set to air in December and January.

As for how she feels about the Emmy-winning role coming to an end, Devine is obviously a little bit sad … though she is still capable of having a good sense of humor about the fact that Adele’s husband Richard is now sleeping with Jackson’s mother:

“Every day, I said, ‘Can I please come back to haunt her? Meredith’s dead mother comes back on the show all the time, and there was that one dead guy [Denny] who stayed on as a ghost forever.”

Adele’s death marks the third occasion this year in which we have seen either a series regular or recurring character pass away, as we have already lost Mark as well as the older doctor who worked alongside Cristina at her Minnesota place of work.

Are you crushed to be seeing Adele Webber go, or in some way do you think this is the best, given that this character was clearly suffering?
