‘Game of Thrones season 3: Notes on Iceland and the season 2 DVD
With December only a matter of days away now, there are two topics that quickly come to mind: the holiday shopping season and snow. Luckily, we have both of these topics well-covered in our latest “Game of Thrones” season 3 story.
Let’s kick off here with the official confirmation coming in now that filming currently going on in northern Iceland will in fact conclude tomorrow, which officially makes this crew the masters of getting things done efficiently, especially when you consider everything that producers have to deal with here in between the short days and the low temperatures. By and large the weather has been fairly cooperative, with their only being a few incidents of the weather serving as a travel inconvenience. The reason they moved filming to the northern part of the country was to get more snow (and not the kind played by Kit Harrington), and it seems as though they were successful in that goal.
Now for those of you looking to give the gift of Westeros, we’re hearing that the show has already set the release date for the season 2 DVD. Sadly (and much like season 1), this is going to be far too late to pick it up for the holidays. “Game of Thrones” season 2 will be released on February 13, 2012, roughly six weeks before the new season starts airing on HBO. This collection will of course include special features and commentaries from many actors on the show, including Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, and the aforementioned Harrington. George R.R. Martin will even be on hand to give commentary for the episode he directed in “Blackwater.”
