‘Dexter’ season 7 spoilers: Are Dexter and a rival striking a deal?
If there was one scene from last week’s “Dexter” season 7 episode that you should be paying attention to leading up to what we are going to see Sunday night, it is the conversation between Dexter and Isaak that took place at the gay bar. This was not just a powerful scene in that it showed us a new side to the Ukrainian mobster than we had seen before, but it also contained an interesting suggestion made by Dexter: no matter what Isaak chooses to do to him, nothing is going to magically bring back the man in Viktor who he loved.
So is it possible that Isaak could actually be finding his idea of mercy? That idea is unclear, but it should be remembered that he told Dexter that had they met under different circumstances, they “could have been great friends.” According to a report from TV Guide, Dexter and Isaak could be strike some sort of deal during this episode, and it involves not only putting Hannah McKay in danger (which is something that Dexter does not particularly like), but finding out a way to take out some of Isaak’s former associates who have at this point abandoned him.
It sounds almost strange to say, but Isaak may be the show’s most sympathetic villain yet. He’s not a man who kills out of madness, but out of survival in the field in which he has chosen to make his living. This fact alone makes him different than the Ice Truck Killer, Trinity, or the Doomsday Killer. He’s also not in love with power a la Jordan Chase or Miguel Prado. He’s without question a bad man, but how much is he going to benefit from being on Dexter’s table given that working alongside him could lead to taking out even more bad men?
Do you think Isaak should live or die this season on “Dexter”?
