‘American Idol’: Why are Phillip Phillips, Adam Lambert, and Lee DeWyze thankful?

For this Thursday edition of “American Idol” notes, we are keeping things very much within the spirit of Thanksgiving by sharing some thoughts from some select contestants that are really just the answer to one question: what are they thankful for this Thanksgiving? Their answers are rather varied, and they give us an insight into not just their experience as singers, but also the highs and lows that can come from appearing on the most-popular singing competition in the world.

In one way or another, all of these comments are coming to us courtesy of Twitter, and we kick things off with a remarkably honest quote from Phillip Phillips about the good things that come from being on the show, but also some of his documented struggles whether it be with his kidneys or the tabloids:

“Im so thankful for this year. Its been tough but also amazing. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Yall have an amazing day!”

Meanwhile, season 9 champ Lee DeWyze handed down a message that was insightful but also pretty funny … mostly because he included wine on the list of things that he is thankful for. Then again, aren’t we all thankful for a little red every now and then?

Family, Friends, Food, Laughs, Wine, Prayers, reflection…I have so much to be Thankful for…including all of you :) Happy Thanksgiving!!”

Finally, we close here with a fun video from Adam Lambert, who posted a video message of him and some members of his “Glamily Band” celebrating the holiday as far away from the United States as possible in Hong Kong. Adam has been a true international artist lately, having also performed in South Africa recently.
