‘Saturday Night Live’: Jamie Foxx to host; Ne-Yo to perform December 8
“Saturday Night Live” is going to be off the air for a couple of weeks following Jeremy Renner’s hosting gig, but when the show does return on December 8, it will be doing so with a man with a serious knack for comedy as the host: Jamie Foxx.
The Academy Award-winning actor will preside over what is likely to be one of the final shows of 2012, and he will also be joined by a musical guest in Ne-Yo who has an extensive amount of experience performing behind him. This marks the first time in which Ne-Yo has arrived on the “SNL” stage, whereas this is the first hosting gig for Foxx in 12 years. How long has it been? Let’s just say that the last time this guy hosted the show, Blink 182 was actually the musical guest.
This season of “SNL” is actually rather hit-and-miss, in particular this episode with Renner (which we will have a full review of later), With this in mind, it is probably a great idea for the show to bring in someone with experience making people laugh, rather than a dramatic actor or an action star with little experience in the live comedy world.
More than likely, there will be one additional show to go along with Foxx’s installment, and last year, this was done by Jimmy Fallon. Isn’t it too much to ask for Fallon again? Regardless of who the next host is, the show will probably revolve very much around the holidays and feature a pretty high-profile host.
