‘American Idol’ notes: Skylar Laine, Adam Lambert, Jessica Sanchez

In case you are wanting to kick back and relax on this Saturday evening, we have plenty to share here courtesy of some “American Idol” notes … beginning with some brand-new music coming to us courtesy of season 11 star Skylar Laine.

Skylar was just one of the guests at the Christmas at Graceland Tree Lighting Ceremony this week, and as a part of that she performed a set of Christmas carols along with the track “Settle Down,” who she wrote with Chris DeStefano, who is also one of the architects behind Carrie Underwood’s smash hit “Good Girl.” We’re really not sure that this song could be more perfect for Skylar if she tried: it’s country as apple pie, biscuits with honey, and pretty much a thousand other food items you can put in here to suit the analogy. We’re interested to see what a studio version here would sound like.

Adam’s press conference – While in South Africa this week, Adam Lambert did get an opportunity to chat it up a little bit with some members of the local media about a myriad of topics, including how he learns about new places, what it is about a touring musician he loves the most, and also how he often likes to create “communities” both in his life and with his music.

The video may only be ta few minutes long, but it is definitely a chat worth checking out and enjoying.

Jessica talks “Glee” gig – Finally, let’s close things off with the reigning runner-up in Jessica Sanchez, who is back in San Diego this weekend for a Christmas gig of her own. While talking to the Union-Tribune, she was also kind enough to open up a little bit about her upcoming stint on “Glee,” and why exactly she wanted to give it a shot to begin with:

“I’ve never, ever acted in my life before, but it’s definitely different and that’s why I love it … It’s different from singing, but it’s also similar. In singing, you have to put an emotion into the song with your words, so that when somebody hears it they can feel what you’re singing. Acting is pretty much the same thing. It’s not just facial movements, but the way you say it.”
