NBC’s ‘Smash’ season 2: Check out the first poster, and the ‘Voice’ connection

Even though it is moving to Tuesdays this year starting on February 5, “Smash” is still finding a way in its second season to stay connected to its former lead-in in “The Voice.” Want proof? Just know that the show is going to be featured on Monday night’s new episode of the singing competition … in video form, at least. (Be sure to also view the first full posted for the new season below!)

According to TVLine, the first teaser for “Smash” season 2 will air during “The Voice,” which is exciting news for anyone interested in seeing how the show looks following its massive summer makeover. Josh Safran (“Gossip Girl”) has taken over as the new showrunner following Theresa Rebeck’s exit, and there are also some actors (see you, Dev and Ellis) while others are signing on. Two of the most notable new additions are Jennifer Hudson and Sean Hayes, who are each bringing yet another connection to this show from “American Idol” as well as “Will & Grace.”

One of the biggest issues with the first season was that almost everything felt somewhat disjointed, as we would see characters turn from good to bad (Ivy) in a drop of a hat, and there were too many similar stories happening across the board in between dreamers being dreamers and everyone cheating on their significant others. We need more variety this time around, along with characters who are easily more defined and show us just different dimensions of a Broadway world that most people outside of New York are relatively oblivious to.

Are you excited for season 2, even if you did not exactly enjoy the direction the show went the first go-around?
