‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: ‘Entourage’ alum books romantic role

For the past several weeks on “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9, we have made the assumption that the best person for Dr. Alex Karev to be with is the new intern Jo (Camilla Luddington), mostly because she does bring something different to the table rather than just a girl who will sleep with him once and then move on. However, it’s still fair to say that these two parties are still a while away from being together based on the fact that Alex has not really even started to be nice to her.

So could Alex turn somewhere else for the immediate future? It’s possible, as sources are confirming that “Entourage” alum Constance Zimmer has been brought on the hit ABC drama to play the part of Dr. Cahill, who really could not be more different from Alex’s usual “type” if she tried. The character is super-confident in her work and an expert in her field, and this could cause Alex to really challenge himself.

Of course, there is still one major wrench that we have to throw into the system here: there is no guarantee that Zimmer’s character is a love interest for him at all. We don’t know for sure that Cristina and Owen will get back together, and Jackson and April have also yet to fully define the parameters of their relationship. The only series regulars we think we can rule out at the moment are Derek, Callie, and Arizona (who seem committed to their current marriages) along with Dr. Webber (who is still seeing Jackson’s mother).

What do you think about this casting, and will you flip out if Zimmer is playing an Alex love interest? Be sure to share some of your thoughts on the booking below!
