‘Elementary’: Did Watson overstep her boundaries with Sherlock?

On tonight’s episode of “Elementary” Holmes and Watson are still not really talking after Watson went to his old friend Allister to find out more information about Holmes and then confronted him about a woman from his past named Irene. Watson tries to talk to him and end the cold war between them, but he ditches her and answers a new homicide call.

The new case is a home invasion/murder that the police first believe is a copy cat of an old case from a man named Wade Crewes. Considering that Wade was caught for his crimes years ago, most feel that it’s a copy cat, but Holmes isn’t convinced. In fact he thinks that the person is instead someone that helped Wade, a partner in crime, and is now back at it again.

Holmes and Gregson go to meet up with Wade in jail to see what they could find out from him, but he still maintains that he is innocent and that he was talked into giving a fake confession. Wade accuses the captain of planting his finger prints at the scene of one of his past crimes with a black mug, the same mug that was given to Wade during an interrogation by Gregson. Sherlock decides to talk to Gregson about it and the captain denies it, then throws Sherlock out of his office. Gregson meets up with Terry, the other officer who was in the original interrogation with Gregson and Wade, and he finds out that she was the one that planted the mug and he tells her he’s not going to keep quiet about it.

Holmes ends up finding another lead in a guy named Victor who got out of jail 3 weeks ago at the same time the home invasions started again. He finds the motel Victor is staying at as well as a gun that looks like the one used for the murders. Another three murders come up and Holmes realizes from the crime scene that Victor is not their man, but that he was framed.

Holmes figures out that the woman who had an affair with Wade, Carla Figueroa, gave birth to a son named Shawn. The son figured out who is father was and started volunteering at the Sing Sing library to meet his father and struck up a relationship.  Shawn decided to  start the home invasions again and frame Victor to try and help get his father out of jail, but once he realized his father is going to turn him in, Shawn turns on his father giving the police the evidence they needed to confirm that Wade was responsible for the original home invasions.

Watson decides to go to the rehab where Holmes did his recovery and speak to anyone that might have information about Irene, but no one seems to have a clue. She ends up finding a gardener named Edison who did strike up a friendship with Sherlock and he gives Watson some personal letters from Irene that were sent to Holmes while he was in rehab. Watson gives Holmes the letters from Irene and tells him that she didn’t read them and that she won’t ask him about them again. Holmes destroys the letters and later he decides to open up to Watson about Irene, telling her that Irene died and that he didn’t take her passing well – nothing more.
