‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Last Resort’ guest snags shocking role

Good news for “Once Upon a Time” fans: not only do we now know the man who will be playing the character of Gerhardt for at least one season 2 episode, but there are some more details coming out to go along with it.

According to a new report coming in via TVLine, Chad Michael Collins, whose recent credits include guest appearances on “Last Resort” and “2 Broke Girls,” has signed on to play the part, and we now know that this character also just so happens to be the brother of Dr. Whale’s Victor Frankenstein. So will this character show up in both the fairytale world and Storybrooke? For the time being, all that we can assume is that he will probably be in a flashback given that Whale would not suddenly have a brother that did not exist in the world before.

This casting could be somewhat polarizing given how not everyone loved the last Whale-centric episode in “The Doctor,” though we are more than fascinated to find some more information out about the black-and-white world in which Frankenstein comes from. How many other universes are there, and is it possible that the revelation of this could yield all sorts of other literary characters opening up the floodgates into this show? All we can really say for sure right now is that the arrival of this character should give us more insight into just what sort of experiments Frankenstein was doing at the time that the curse was placed upon the world, and also whether or not he ever came back to the fairytale world after his maiden voyage to try and raise Daniel from the dead.
