‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ preview: Is [spoiler] protecting Arden?

When “American Horror Story: Asylum” first introduced us to the character of Sister Jude, it felt in that moment almost like there was no way in the world that the show would be able to top that level of awful. However, they have managed to do just that when it comes to Arden. James Cromwell is absolutely terrifying in this role as the horrific and perverse doctor overseeing the patients’ medical care, and the revelation that he has an even darker past in Nazi Germany makes him even more unsettling than before based on how willing he was to be part of something so terrible.

But is Arden about to be found out? Not if Sister Mary Eunice has anything to do with it. Lily Rabe’s possessed character could actually be one of the people who will help Arden cover up his sketchy past in order to keep him at the institution, with one of her primary reasons for it being that he is the sort of man willing and capable of inflicting the same sort of chaos that she aspires to see from one corner of the asylum to the other. In addition to that, he has also proven to be someone she can at least trust as an ally after he did nothing following her rather R-rated visit to his part of the asylum earlier this season.

But don’t expect this to be everything, as this episode will also continue the storyline of “Anne Frank,” which will hopefully lead to us learning just who she really is, and why she is pretending to be the famous woman who wrote the diaries while trying to hide from the SS. Ryan Murphy has also confirmed that by the end of this week, we are also going to finally learn the identity of Bloody Face, who has been torturing the whole asylum in one way or another since the beginning of this season.
