‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: First Roslin, and now Walder Frey
Somehow, the producers of “Game of Thrones” season 3 have managed to keep quiet about the casting of most members of the Frey family during their actual filming earlier this year, but now, everything seems to be starting to come to the forefront.
Only a matter of days after it was first revealed that Roslin Frey would be joining the show in at least some capacity (though it is unclear to what extent), Winter Is Coming reports that Tim Plester has been cast to play the role of Black Walder Frey. Plester is a British actor and playwright, though to American audiences he may be best known for a brief part he had in the movie “Kick-Ass” as a criminal who ended up meeting his demise courtesy of a microwave. (Horrifying, right? But also kind of funny.)
The Frey clan first appears in the George R.R. Martin novel A Storm of Swords, but we will spare you the specifics of the role for those who have not read the books save for that their storyline will involve both the Tully and the Stark families in season 3. It’s hard to say for sure how much of a role they will have on the show, though we expect them to be a key part of the story even if their characters are not always onscreen.
“Game of Thrones” returns on March 31, but those who are impatient should fear not: we would be stunned if there is not some sort of teaser trailer by the end of this year. After all, don’t we fans deserve some sort of early gift for the holidays?
