‘Bones’ season 8 spoilers: First look at Booth honoring veterans
Monday night’s new episode of “Bones” season 8 is going to differ from the mold set by some stories over the past few weeks; rather than focusing on some sillier stories including gruesome deaths and Sweets moving in to Booth and Brennan’s house, we are appropriately going to see an episode the day after Veteran’s Day that is themed largely about honoring the life of someone who died on September 11.
So why now when it comes to the timing? Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, executive producer Stephen Nathan explains how in between it being 2012 and the content in which the series is based on, all of the pieces just fell into place:
“We’ve been trying to figure out a way to do an episode that focused on 9/11 for a long time, and it was either too soon or [risked being] exploitative … But it was important for us to do because Kathy Reichs [author of the books on which the series is based] was very involved in identifying the remains at Ground Zero.
“When we identify the remains of a 9/11 victim who was killed at the Pentagon, Booth gives him the honorable and dignified burial that he deserves.”
This is also going to be the episode featuring all of the squinterns coming together to help figure out the case, and it was created last season as one of the “bonus” episodes that is being plugged in now that really has no bearing on the rest of the plot of the season. Therefore, expect an hour that is rather emotional even if there are a few jokes here and there, and if you haven’t watched the show in a while, the good news is that you are not going to have to pick up on any preexisting storyline beforehand.
