‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: ‘American Idol’s’ Jessica Sanchez has Charice-like role

You likely already know by now that Jessica Sanchez is coming to “Glee,” and now, we finally know a little bit more about the character that the former “American Idol” star is going to be playing. Ironically, based on what we are hearing right now, it is starting to look as though she is going to be playing a character rather similar to that of another singer with connections to the Philippines in Charice Pempengco.

Speaking in a new interview with mb.com, here is what Ryan Murphy supposedly had to say about Sanchez’s casting, and really just how much she will be appearing:

“Yes, Jessica Sanchez is joining ‘Glee’ … When you have a voice like that, we wanted her to be in every episode this year. But she couldn’t because of the tour. She is doing an album so we worked it out that she will probably do two or three episodes so that will probably be 16, 17, 18 when we get into the regionals competition. I would imagine she is going to be the big voice star of another competing choir who gives them a run for their money.”

Is this competing choir going to be Vocal Adrenaline? Not necessarily, since this is the club that New Directions has squared off against at Nationals in the past two seasons. (Charice’s character of Sunshine Corazon was their spotlight singer back in season 2.) This may therefore be a new singing group we haven’t seen much of before, since she obviously is not going to be a part of the Dalton Academy Warblers.

These episodes featuring Sanchez will probably air at some point either in February or in April, depending on how Fox chooses to break up the season. We can almost guarantee a hiatus in March, since that seems to happen every year to stretch the show out into May. We would not be surprised given Sanchez’s promo tour if she ends up being a part of Vocal Adrenaline, and her episodes do not air until the end of the season.

If Jessica adopts a role similar to what we have seen from Charice, will you be happy with that?

Update: In looking back at some of our archives of other sources from the Philippines we wanted to point out once again that this is what Murphy supposedly said. There were also sources that claimed Sanchez was going to be touring the country last year, and this turned out to be false. With this being said, the episode count does seem to be consistent with what we would expect from Jessica given her schedule. Also, keep in mind that these sort of details can change at the last minute. Charice, after all, was originally going to have a much larger role than she ended up having.
