‘The New Normal’: Halloween episode made available on iTunes

Thanks to NBC’s decision to bump it with coverage of Hurricane Sandy, fans of “The New Normal” may have to wait a while longer to catch the show’s Halloween special … or do they? Thanks in part to the main man himself in Ryan Murphy, we now know that you can download their very funny Halloween special at a time in which it is still somewhat relevant.

In a post on Twitter, the showrunner shared a link to where the special can be purchased on iTunes for $2.99, and this post does raise an interesting question: is this episode actually going to air on TV at all? You could make the case from the network’s point of view that it makes no sense to air something about Halloween on November 14 (which would be the next available date considering the Presidential election happening next week), but there are also some events that happen in this episode that are relevant to the story.

For those of you who have not seen the episode yet, we don’t want to give away what happens within it, but let’s just say that it is a key moment for Goldie when it comes to her new family in California. In case you want another reason to download it, just imagine Shania quoting as many lines from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” as possible in a short amount of time. It’s one of the show’s strongest episodes, which is saying something given the momentum this cast has picked up within the past several weeks. It’s really just starting to feel refreshing to see a show about a couple who is already together, rather than just a bunch of single people hoping to find their Mr. and Mrs. Right.
