Is New Amsterdam new tonight on NBC? Detailing what’s next
Truth is, last week’s installment of the Ryan Eggold medical drama was the midseason finale. From here, the series won’t be back until Tuesday, January 14 — and there’s a lot of stuff that will need to be unraveled there.
From a character standpoint, one of the big mysteries at the moment is what’s going to happen with Dr. Evelyn Sharpe. At the end of the fall finale, she found herself facing a demotion. This isn’t one that necessarily ends her time at the hospital, but it may have her questioning whether or not she wants to continue working there. Is the grass really greener for her on the other side of the fence? It’s hard to get a clear answer to this at the moment, but we do think that it’s something that she’s thinking about. Max may need to convince her to stick around, if it is possible to find a compelling argument there.
For Max, we would imagine that much of his story is going to be about finding a way to truly move forward. He’s in remission now and while he didn’t necessarily expect it, this is where we are. He’s got a chance now to move forward and try to live — that means saying goodbye to Georgia, as hard as that may be for him to do. It’s unknown territory for him and that could mean some highs and lows.
Finally, be prepared for Reynolds to face a potentially-tough time insofar as his personal life goes, while for Dr. Bloom, we have to see if there’s going to be a way for her to recover further. There are a lot of obstacles ahead for everyone and yet, we’re confident that we can find a way to discover stronger versions of themselves. It may not come immediately, but it will get there.
