‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6, episode 6 preview: Penny’s latest reveal

“The Big Bang Theory” has spent much of its run focusing primarily on the academic achievements of some of its male characters; with that in mind, isn’t now the perfect opportunity for one of the female players to have a little bit of time in the spotlight?

The new sneak peek from Thursday night’s episode “The Extract Obliteration” definitely makes it appear to be the case, as it focuses entirely on Penny telling her boyfriend Leonard something that we’re honestly surprised was not leaked to him before now: she has been taking a history class, and is interested in going back to school in a greater capacity in the future. So what’s the reasoning for this? Is she giving up on her acting career? We don’t believe this to be the case just yet, but we also do not have all of the information on the subject just yet.

What is mostly just funny about this clip is that Leonard helps to make it abundantly clear why she waited so long to spill the beans when it came to some of her collegiate plans: he loves to worry more than he loves to breathe, and he started to immediately spill out a list of things that Penny should make sure she does in college in the event that she wants to transfer to a four-year school.

We also hear that Stephen Hawking is going to play a part in the storyline this week, but for the time being CBS is mum as to whether or not he will actually appear. (If he does, it will be as a surprise cameo.)
