NCIS season 17 episode 8 review: Did Sloane reconnect with her daughter?
Tonight on NCIS season 17 episode 8, there were a lot of different mysteries going on — but far from your typical ones. After all, Gibbs chose to take an absence from the team, claiming that it was “sturgeon season” and he wanted to go fishing. The other story here was that he wanted to help Fornell with his daughter.
Insofar as the case goes, the NCIS team found themselves tasked with trying to find a way in order to ensure that there was justice for a fallen Navy band member. This was one of the strangest episodes of the year in terms of all of its various twists and turns, but it turns out that there was some sort of smuggling operation that was going on here. It was a case that wasn’t outright impossible for the team to solve, but it was clear as it went along that there were a number of crazy twists and turns that they had to go through. Luckily, though, they were able to figure things out.

For Sloane tonight, she had to figure out what was going on when her biological daughter wanted to meet up with her and give up some information about her family history … something that made her think as though Faith wasn’t doing well. As Gibbs made it clear to her, though, she didn’t have to meet in person. This is a little window into something more for the two of them, that there may be something more for the two coming up. Sloane even got a text from her at the end of the episode! Good on her for following Ducky’s advice to just ddo what Faith wanted and not to interfere too much.
CarterMatt Verdict
In between Torres with a piccolo, Kasie with a trombone, and also Sloane making some personal revelations, there was a lot to like about NCIS season 17 episode 8. Let’s hope that this gets us a little bit closer to some big moments for Sloane later. As for Gibbs, it does seem like he’s working with Fornell to some degree … but it’s still unclear if that was what was going on here. There may be a larger sort of mystery here at the moment.
