Blue Bloods season 10 episode 8 review: Did Erin run for DA?

Blue Bloods season 10

In a lot of ways, tonight’s Blue Bloods season 10 episode 8 was an installment all about procedure — and finding the right and wrong way in order to solve a crime.

For Jamie, this is something that he chose to really hit hard after he recognized that Eddie’s partner did whatever he could in order to bring down a terrible criminal … even if it didn’t quite happen in the way in which you would’ve expected. The problem was that Eddie’s partner also put Eddie in a tough position — ironically, it was Jamie not following some protocol (going to IAB) that led to him being able to protect his wife while also taking her partner down for some violations.

Meanwhile, for Danny, he had to listen to Henry a little bit better than just judging someone who seemed to be engaged in some hostile behavior towards his wife. He bent a number of different rules in order to ensure that he got what he wanted … only to realize that this may not have been something that he wanted at all.

Of course, then you have the big-time story for Erin that was all about whether or not she will run for District Attorney at the request of Peter Chase, the Mayor-elect. He’s someone who wants to use Erin in order to get some of what he wants — and she’d also be able to make sure that she was able to make a dream come true. Truth is, she recognized that Chase was making some offers to other prosecutors, and she would consider what he was offering. It could be mutually beneficial — it’s not the path that she expected for the gig, but it could still prove valuable.

Oh, and then you have the story about Frank Reagan working to resolve tension with the police and fire departments … thought that felt like an afterthought with everything else that was going on in the episode.

CarterMatt Verdict

Overall, we would say that Blue Bloods season 10 episode 8 brought a lot of interesting stuff to the table, but one of the things that we appreciated the most was being able to see Erin get a story that will actually last for a little while. Oh, and seeing Danny and Henry work together was delightful given that it’s not some every-week occurrence with this show. The same goes for Henry really getting some sort of big story at all.
