NCIS season 17: Wilmer Valderrama teases ‘dark place’ ahead for Torres

While there has been a lot of comedy as of late for Nick Torres on NCIS season 17, don’t expect things to stay that way forever. As a matter of fact, we’d go ahead and suggest that there’s going to be some harsh times coming soon.

Speaking earlier this week in a new interview on The Today Show, Wilmer Valderrama notes that we are going to see Torres coming up this season struggle with the aspect of being a part of a team, something that he first took on back when he first joined the NCIS office. Why is it coming back now? It may have to do with some of what’s happened the past couple of years with losing people like Reeves, and seeing the sort of pain that can come with having so many emotional attachments. There is also this to consider — many of the NCIS agents felt like Ziva was dead for years. He’s now seen them all go through an emotional rollercoaster and he may be wondering whether or not this is for him.

In the end, it seems as though Torres could be heading towards a “dark place” coming up, and we wonder if it will be up to Bishop, McGee, or even Gibbs to get him out of it. We wonder if his failures to advance his relationship with Ellie are somehow a part of what he is dealing with. One of the more interesting storylines at the moment is that one regarding the feelings that he has for her — feelings that are probably being reciprocated. Yet, neither one of them has been willing to admit to them. There’s the thrill of the case, but then there is also the fear that the moment has passed and you aren’t ever going to get what you want out of a situation. Maybe this season is going to feature these roads converging somehow.

Maybe we’ll start to see some of this play out on Tuesday’s episode — if not then, than some other point down the road.
