Blue Bloods season 10 episode 8 promo: Could Erin become DA?

Blue Bloods season 10

Coming up on Blue Bloods season 10 episode 8, we’re going to have a great chance to see Erin climb up the ladder. Yet, it’s not going to come about in the most typical of ways here at all.

As the promo below from Friday night’s new episode reveals, Erin is going to encounter the new Mayor of New York City (played by Dylan Walsh), someone who is very much eager to see her run for office. That’s an exciting prospect, but it does come with a significant caveat — if it happens, it means that she may be under the Mayor’s thumb. It’d be an election supported mostly by his endorsement, and that means that she could be stuck in the far-from-enviable position where she is largely a pawn.

We know that Erin is more than that. We also know that the Mayor is probably doing just about everything in his power in order to ensure that he can also build some more bridges between himself and Frank Reagan. If there is one person you want to get in good with if you’re the head of New York City, isn’t it the police commissioner? That just feels like the thing that makes the greatest overall sense.

By the time we get to the end of this episode, we should have a chance to learn, one way or another, what Erin is going to do. We do think that she’s smart and strong enough to get to becoming District Attorney at some point … but it may be a little too early at the moment. We think her running for office should come at a time when she wants it, as opposed to when someone else tries to place her in the role.
