‘666 Park Avenue’ the latest target of One Million Moms

First, they went after NBC’s “The New Normal” to little to no benefit; then, they also attacked a show produced by Jennifer Lopez in “The Fosters” that is not even on the air yet. So where are the One Million Moms taking out their anger now? It’s strangely a show in “666 Park Avenue” that does not really have that much to do with same-sex marriage at all. Instead, they just don’t like the fact that the show is just so evil.

So what’s their real problem with the Terry O’Quinn show? Here’s just a portion of what they have published on their website, and it really just feels as though they are objecting to the demonic and satanic nature of some of the storylines:

“ABC also describes the apartment building as wicked and dangerous and the owner of the building as a dark power … The evil owner of the apartment building in the show portrays characteristics of the devil himself. Previews include terrifying screams, death, spirits, satanic symbols, mark of the devil, and souls bought for a price.”

The one thing that this group may have going for them here is that “666 Park Avenue” is not exactly a ratings juggernaut, so it may not end up staying on the air very long regardless of what they try to do here. Other than that, though, we don’t really understand some of these public protests of the show so much, mostly because it seems to us that the best way to really get a show canceled (if for whatever reason you enjoy putting people out of work) is by not watching it. This isn’t even a show, though, that is really influencing any sort of political belief. It’s just scary, but there are far worse things on television that children could be watching at 10:00 p.m. at night.

“666 Park Avenue” (despite the boycott) will continue airing Sunday nights on ABC, and the network has at least ordered some more scripts beyond the initial 13.
