ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2 spoilers: The photo you never saw coming

We can’t think of anything more devastating that the picture that we are sharing below from Sunday night’s new episode of “Revenge.” After all, just think of everything that Emily Thorne has gone through the past season and a half to try and establish some sense of peace for her family. First, it was trying to avenge what happened to her father; then, it was trying to find her mother. Now, she has finally found her and it is a cause worth celebrating … but it’s hard to really do that when no one knows who you really are.

With that, we have this new photo that has to be a leading candidate for “awkward moment of the year,” as we see Emily’s mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) holding the baby of who she thinks is the real Amanda Clarke. Could there be anything more painful than this? She can’t risk exposing her true self out of fear of destroying the plans that she has already put into motion, but that does not mean that this is an easy thing for her to stomach by any means. (As a matter of fact, this is probably the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard.)

Here is the full synopsis for this episode, which has the oh-so-appropriate title of “Illusion” behind it:

“Faces from the past are reemerging all around the Hamptons, and for Victoria and Emily it brings on different kinds of trouble and significance. Meanwhile Jack’s sense of duty grows exponentially, and Padma makes a move that could have major ramifications for Nolcorp.”
