Stephen Colbert issues own challenge to Donald Trump … and it’s awkward

We try to stay away from politics by and large on the site, but the following story is really so funny that, regardless of your affiliation, it is worth checking out.

Over the past 24 hours, there’s little question that Donald Trump has taken quite a beating over his much-hyped “announcement” about President Obama being a challenge to have him release his passport and college records, and in return for that, the “Celebrity Apprentice” host is saying that he will donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice. Obviously, the implication here is that he thinks Obama has something within his records that will hurt his chances at re-election, and he is trying to bait him using his conscience to get them out there.

However, what’s more interesting than Trump’s actual challenge is the way in which the media has reacted to it. Some have accused the man of being “desperate,” and of staging this entire ordeal so that he can get himself some more publicity as “The Celebrity Apprentice” continues its production for the upcoming spring season. While others have seen some merit in his accusations, they do not like the way in which he has went about it.

After sitting back and reviewing Trump’s entire challenge, Stephen Colbert issued a statement of his own on Wednesday night’s new episode of “The Colbert Report” that the Donald is even less likely to respond to than the President issuing the documents that Trump wants:

“Mr. Trump, I will write you a check for $1 million from Colbert Super PAC, you know I’ve got it, to the charity of your choice … Save The Children, Feed The Children, Put The Children on ‘Child Apprentice,’ whatever … one million actual dollars, if you will let me dip my balls in your mouth.”

The main reason this is so funny? It’s really just because it comes out of nowhere.
