As we prepare for The Resident season 3 to premiere, a fire at the hospital is one of the things that is on our mind. We’ve seen it teased here and there in promos already, and the latest sneak peek that CarterMatt has for you below seems to give you a sense as to its origins.
In this preview (which comes to you via TVLine), Conrad Hawkins goes down into the basement of Chastain and while there, he runs into an old friend (physicist Annie). He’s hardly there for some sort of friendly reunion though. In reality, what he is looking to do is get a larger sense of where a missing boy is? She agrees to help, but all it takes is the opening of one door for the whole place to get explosive. Conrad admits that he smells gas, but seconds after saying that, the door is already open and the basement is in flames.
Elsewhere in the hospital, it is clear that Dr. Bell heard both the noise and the rumble. As for what he can do about it himself, the best thing is to just call the fire department. This is the last thing the hospital needs to get out of control. The longer it lasts, the more danger many of these patients are in. That means potentially having to move people around and scramble in order to ensure the safety of everyone there.

As if this wasn’t enough, tomorrow’s episode is also going to feature the aftermath of Nic losing a loved one — something teased at the end of the season 2 finale — and then also getting more of a chance to see how Dr. Barrett Cain reacts to being a part of the Chastain staff. Morris Chestnut will be a part of this season in a big way and while he does bring with him a lot of skill, there are some key drawbacks to his vast ambition.
