The Affair season 5 episode 6 preview: Joanie wants answers

Next week,  The Affair season 5 episode 6 is going to bring to you information on the storyline we’ve long been curious about. What is that? Think along the lines of the journey of Joanie.

So far through the final season, we’ve seen producers hand out what are the tiniest teases of what’s going on with her. She took a job in Montauk, and it seems as though much of that was cover for her to get some answers on what happened to Allison. That search is going to drive her through this episode, as will also getting a better sense of who may have been partially responsible. She’ll comb through evidence. and possibly get a sense of who was truly involved: Ben. For the longest time this past year, we’ve hoped to see the character get justice — proof that she did not just take her own life. Maybe this episode will allow Joanie to see the light and uncover the truth.

Joanie and EJ begin to explore her family history in Montauk, N.Y. to try to discover the cause of her mother’s death.

Is this entire episode going to be Joanie-specific? It’s a little hard to say that with confidence given the limited amount of information that we’ve got … but we definitely cannot rule it out for the time being. We know that there hasn’t been a LOT of this character though the past several weeks of the show, so it only makes sense that the writers choose to offer up whatever material that they can now. If they don’t, they’ll find themselves in a position where they are rushing to push things forward and get answers at the end of the series.
