Outlander EP on season 5 progress, season 6, emotional episode

Outlander season 4

Whenever there is a chance to get a little bit of Outlander intel from someone like Matthew B. Roberts, it’s a cause for celebration! We’re talking about an individual who knows and understands the series intensely, and also someone who is often so busy working on it that it’s hard to get an abundance of scoop!

Yet, Roberts did recently take part in a brief Q&A session and through that, we got at least a handful of little details about what’s coming up. Consider this article some of the more notable highlights in terms of what the show is doing now, what they will be doing moving forward, and then also how one episode brought a big chunk of the staff to tears.

First, let’s talk about the fact that season 5 is almost done! We knew already that the penultimate block of episodes (most likely episodes 9 and 10 for season 5) are currently filming, and Roberts confirmed that the final block (11 and 12, presumably) are being prepped. That means that these episodes will start filming before too long and, after that, the cast is done with being out on location. They will transfer over to the next part of their responsibility, which could be anything from ADR work to promotion, depending on what is needed after some of the initial footage comes in.

For Roberts, he continues to be the master of wearing as many different hats as possible. After all, not only is he preparing to finish this season, but the writers’ room for season 6 is already open! That means that the sixth season will be starting up production next year — we don’t want to get too specific on production start times yet, but it wouldn’t be a shock if season 6 is filming by the time that season 5 is finishing up airing on Starz.

Finally, here’s a bit of evidence that you are in for quite a treat with the next batch of episodes. After all, Roberts noted that there is one episode that made almost everyone within the room cry when it was being screened. He wouldn’t say which one, but that is a welcome sign for the greatness of season 5 as a whole.

What are you the most excited to see on season 5 of Outlander?
