Blue Bloods season 10 spoilers: Who is new Mayor? Dylan Walsh’s role

Blue Bloods season 10

First, it was David Ramsay — then, it was Lorraine Bracco. Now, Dylan Walsh is set to play the new Mayor on Blue Bloods season 10.

According to a new report from Deadline, the Nip/Tuck and Unforgettable actor is taking a term in office. Per the character description, this Mayor is a “pragmatic businessman who rose up through honest ingenuity and keen instincts, he took on the office as a means to ‘give back’ to the City where he was raised in the disappearing middle-class and from which he launched his enormously successful career.”

So how is he going to factor into the story of the season? While it’s possible that he could have a role in some Frank storylines, in the early going he may be tied more to Erin. After he arrives on the scene, he will approach Erin with an offer to support her in a possible run for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. Yet, does he really want her to win for the sake of her own ambition, or for furthering on his own goals? Does he think that he can just use her? It’s possible he is thinking that way … but it’s foolish to do so given how much we know about Erin. She’s a Reagan! Do you wanna go up against that?

Let’s make it clear: Frank doesn’t have to fight any battles for Erin. She’s going to have to think about whether or not it’s worth it for her to continue to work with someone who has his own reasons for backing her. It’s very well possible that he could offer up significant, tangible benefits for Erin and her own career … and she could use some of those in order to further her own interests. She’d have to figure out how she is going to use him just like he may be looking to use her.
