On Tuesday night’s Ink Master season 12 episode 14, the name of the game is going to be precision. With that in mind, the five remaining artists are going to be doing one of their most-difficult tasks to date: Making art using paintball guns. Hey, you do need to be accurate when using these things, right?
We know that Ink Master does love to give us some of these ridiculously over-the-top Flash Challenges, but this one really has to take the cake for one of the craziest. Just think about it this way: You’re forcing artists to utilize a skill that they may not have at all — sure, having an artistic eye is great, but can you actually aim the paintball gun at the right place and fire? Doing that is obviously a little bit easier said than done.
For the women’s team, they’re at a further disadvantage in that Laura and Dani are the only two left versus three guys — that means that they’ve got more of a challenge when it comes to finishing everything on time and coming up with a great design. We do think that what they came up with when it comes to the women’s face, the flowing hair, the flowers, and the beams of light is really impressive. It has an artistic quality to it — Dave Navarro compares it to Monet and we see where he’s coming from!
Alas, the problem the women may have here is that the men came up with a dragon design that, from a distance, is a good bit more legible — if you look at it, you’re going to know what it is immediately. A part of this may come from the dragon’s head being centered in the design, while for the women the head is all the way over at the far right. It’s not where your eye immediately goes. We think more thought may have been put into the women’s overall design, but on the basis of what the challenge is, there’s a good chance that the men will come out of this on top. We’ll ultimately find out come Tuesday…
