Is Mindhunter renewed for a season 3 at Netflix, and is there a good chance that it will be? Within this article, we want to do our best to discuss that topic, and then also look towards the future.

Let’s kick off this article with the bad news — there is no word on a Mindhunter season 3 at the moment. Netflix seems to be okay for now to just get the second season out there and we’ll see what happens from there. What’s probably the most surprising thing about it to us is the mere fact that there isn’t more attention out there around the show. Despite the fact that this is one of Netflix’s best-reviewed programs, at the same time it doesn’t feel as though there are a lot of people discussing its return. Some of that may just come via how quickly programs turn over at the streaming service.

We do think that there is something that Netflix has to examine here in the future — the massive glut of programming that they have the struggle that they have in order to maintain all of it, even for viewers. It’s just hard to create a big, communal experience around watching something when you find yourselves moving on so fast from one show to the next. This may not apply only to Mindhunter, but it is something worth thinking about.

Anyhow, Mindhunter season 2’s viewership could play a big role in determining whether or not there is a season 3 — if it’s watched and watched with great regularity, there is a good chance that it comes back … provided that there is more story to tell. It feels like there is, given that (quite unfortunately) there is all sorts of history regarding horrific killers in this country.

If there’s one thing we would say we hope for when it comes to a Mindhunter season 3 right now, it’s that there is a shorter delay between the end of this season and the start of the next one. The long layover between seasons this time around definitely hurts.
