‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: Misha Collins talks Castiel’s purgatory fate
Is Castiel really dead after his time in purgatory with Dean? This is something that at the moment is not entirely clear. During the season premiere of “Supernatural” earlier this month, we learned via Dean that he seemingly did not make it out alive. The key word here? “Seemingly,” as Dean did not actually watch Cas pass away. With that in mind, you can still make the argument here that anything is possible, and this character may still in fact be alive.
When it comes to this very subject, Misha Collins of course had quite a bit to say about what is coming up for him this season, especially as he gets closer to playing a major role in the storyline. In an interview with The Huffington Post, he did his best to explain a little bit why Dean is being so noncommittal when it comes to just what happened to him … mostly because he didn’t actually see it:
“I think that Dean doesn’t know the full story. So I think it’s more than that Dean is being cagey; he doesn’t know the whole story, and I think that he also feels some guilt about what happened. And Dean deals with guilt in a very childish manner.”
We are seeing a little bit of how Dean deals with this guilt this season courtesy of something else: how he is acting when it comes to Benny, who is also out in the real world along with Dean already. Will Cas turn up there, as well? All you have to do to find out more information on this subject is head over here.
What do you want to see happen when it comes to Cas this season? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts with a comment below!

I thoroughly disagree, Scotty. I love Sam’n’Dean, but it gets boring just having them and monsters all the time. Perhaps the whole apocalypse thing in general is done, but I don’t think that means that all the angels suddenly need to disappear forever (after all, the demons are still alive and kicking after 8 seasons), nor does Cas in particular. To suddenly forget all of that after the huge role they’ve played in the series would be a huge misstep on the part of the writers.
Also, the Winchesters need people besides each other in their lives, not just because it get monotonous without them, but because there’s and extra dynamic that Cas has brought to the show; he presents new challenges and opportunities, and gives the characters room to grow and change. Plus, with everyone else they’ve ever gotten close to over the years pretty much gone, the brothers deserve someone who sticks around.
Besides, Cas has gotten some pretty rough treatment these past couple of seasons, and even if (God forbid) he’s on his way out, he deserves his redemption and a decent send-off, because there’s no denying that he’s been an integral part to the series.

I love Castiel, he made the show even more interesting than it already was. I really wish to see more of him this season.

I’d like Castiel and the angels to go away. Their time has passed on this show.
