Sci-Fi Character Battle: Alicia Clark, Dean Winchester, Chloe Decker, Julia Wicker, Steve Harrington, & Dolores Abernathy

Welcome to the Sci-Fi Character Battle, a new CarterMatt Feature for the month of August! Over the past several years, sci-fi is a genre that has become so diverse and also so fantastic. You’ve got shows about space travel, zombies, time-travel, angels, demons, mermaids, artificial intelligence, and a whole lot more! Within this series, we’re going to do our part to spotlight many of the best characters within the genre … and then ask which ones you like the best.

Below, you can see the fourth and final batch of six characters (out of 24) we’re spotlighting in Round One of the polling tournament! Within this piece, we’ll be sharing what makes each character special and then there is a poll for you to vote for your favorite! Two characters will move on to round two.

Voting Rules – Voting will remain open until Tuesday, August 13 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time; the advancing characters will move on two round 2, which will begin later that same day. You can vote however often you’d like; for more technical information if you’re having issues, check out the bottom of this article.

Dolores Abernathy, Westworld – A fantastic lens through which you can view this world. Dolores is smart, thought-provoking, capable, and an original. It’s ironic and it’s been said many times — despite being a Host, she has a greater sense of humanity than about 90% of all human characters within the TV world.

Alicia Clark, Fear the Walking Dead – Alicia’s arc through the AMC series to date has been nothing short of phenomenal. At the start of the series, she started off not understanding her way in the world. Since that time, though, she has shown herself to be a fighter, a beacon of hope, and someone who will help people at all costs.

Chloe Decker, Lucifer – The fourth season of the Netflix series proved itself to be an emotional journey for the character — she went from approaching Lucifer Morningstar with fear and uncertainty to understanding more of his true self — the person on the inside. She loves him … and she’s also one of the most awesome crime-solvers out there.

Steve Harrington, Stranger Things – He’s one of the Netflix series’ best overall characters. Why is that? A lot of it has to do with watching this character’s evolution! Think about where he was at the start of the series, coupled with where he traveled throughout most of the third season.

Julia Wicker, The Magicians – What have we seen from her throughout the past several seasons of this show? Think along the lines of power, strength, vulnerability, and also an ever-changing sense of self. From the get-go she’s found herself on a harrowing journey, and there is still so much more for her to learn.

Dean Winchester, Supernatural – He’s one of the heartbeats of the CW series alongside his brother Sam. He’s a fantastic lead, an emotional anchor for the story, and also an action hero. He’s a character who is sly, sarcastic at times, and yet loving underneath it all. We’re going to miss this guy.

Now, let’s turn this over to you

Who is your favorite character? Be sure to share in the comments, and stick around for some more updates.

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
