Big Brother 21 interview: Allison Grodner on possible future twists

Big Brother 21

Are we done with the major twists on Big Brother 21 following Camp Comeback? Based on what executive producer Allison Grodner told us, it doesn’t seem like it.

In this week’s new interview, the show’s executive producer explains the decision-making behind the Camp Comeback competition, goes inside the wacky Veto Competition hosted by Kaitlyn earlier this week, and then also the aforementioned idea of another twist surfacing before the season is over.

After you check out this interview, watch our new video below for our take on nominations and more! After you do that, subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube and visit our Big Brother playlist. That’s the best way to ensure you don’t miss any other news.

CarterMatt – From the start with Camp Comeback, did you know that it was going to be a competition to bring a player back? Did you think about other ideas like even a house or a public vote?

Allison Grodner – There was always a competition planned for Camp Comeback because we wanted to make sure that everyone evicted had a fair shot to re-enter the game.

From an entertainment standpoint the Veto this week was one of my favorites in a while, mostly because the premise was so out there and Kaitlyn was game to make fun of herself. Since that competition was so dependent on her hosting it for it to work, was that something you had discussions with her on long in advance?

We will never forget the great puzzle fail of BB20. As we thought about bringing back past houseguests to host the Vetoes, we thought it would be fun to create something around that memorable moment and Kaitlyn was happy to poke fun at her blunder.

I know you probably can’t say much, but gotta take my chance anyway — after Camp Comeback, are we done with the major twists or is there something else cooked up?

The summer is only half over so definitely expect more!

What could the next twist be?

We’re just speculating, but isn’t another Camp Comeback over? While Grodner mentioned the summer being “half over,” we technically are still more than two months out from the finale. With the right Double Eviction configuration, it’s worth considering — as are some other twists.
