Is the Poldark season 5 finale going to serve as the series finale? At the moment, that has been confirmed by BBC One. Yet, we’ve heard already from the cast and crew that there is a never-say-never approach to the future … and the show itself may be adding to that sentiment.

In a new video interview (see below) talking mostly about individual episodes, series star Eleanor Tomlinson hinted that the final episode is going to be ending on a little bit of a cliffhanger. It doesn’t sound like it is break-the-internet big, but it’s going to be enough to generate a lot of conversation and maybe get people excited for the idea of more in the future.
All of this makes a good bit of sense. After all, we know that there are more books within the Winston Graham books and because of that, there is more material dangling on the other side of the horizon. It mostly comes down to the actors getting old enough to take some of that material on. The only other option is that you change the source material so that the characters are a little bit younger — but there is no hurry in order to push things forward. Eleanor has another project coming in War of the Worlds, other actors will have other gigs, and there are all of those rumors suggesting that Aidan Turner will be James Bond.
Still, even with all of that, the idea of a Poldark season 5 renewal coming up down the road is enough to have our intention — and leave us excited for some of what could be coming up. We know that it won’t be an issue of whether or not fans want it — we know that this show already has a fan following like no other.
