Blindspot season 5: The first table read; the beginning of the end

Blindspot season 4

Blindspot season 5 will not be coming your way on NBC until the new year — at least if the current schedule holds. Still, we highly recommend getting yourselves prepared in advance — you’re going to need to for what could end up being an emotional final chapter to the saga of this show.

In a new post on Instagram (see below), show executive producer Martin Gero confirmed that the first table read of the season has officially taken place — there is no episode title for the premiere just yet, but even if there was, it may not get that much of a focus. What would instead are some of the attempts to resolve the epic cliffhanger at the end of this past season.

If you recall, season 4 concluded with one of the craziest final sequences in recent TV memory, as much of the team seemed to be blown up in the epic cabin explosion. Did everyone survive? That’s one question; the other is how they survived. We like to think that there was an advance warning and they were all able to retreat to some sort of secret underground bunker. It’s hard to imagine any other scenario other than them maybe jumping out at some moment where our eyes weren’t on the back of the cabin in advance. (Yet, if that was the case, couldn’t someone have seen them running away?) It’s hard to imagine that Gero and the writers killed off the bulk of the cast, sans Jane; no matter, there could be more secrecy around Blindspot season 5 than almost any other recent season of the show. It just makes the most sense for the writers to keep things under a tight lock and key so nobody figures out exactly how things are going to progress forward.

Season 5 is going to be an adventure of desperation, one where we watch characters try to clear their name and also defeat Madeline. She is one of the biggest threats we’ve seen in this world, and she also just so happens to be one of the only people to get one over on the team.
