Suits season 9: Expectations for Harvey, Donna, and more
So where will we see things pick up in the new season? What are some of our expectations? Within this article, we want to dive into all of that for various members of the ensemble.

Harvey – Trying to keep the relationship with Donna going has to be top priority. After everything that they’ve been through, they are finally together! That matters so much because of the fan enthusiasm and also the two characters’ need for a deeper, lasting connection. With Mike and Rachel gone, they’ve lost some of their friends. Separate from this, season 9 is an opportunity to explore more of the dynamic between Harvey and Samantha Wheeler and see if they can form more of a stable partnership.
Donna – We can second everything that we just said about Darvey, but then also add to it some interest in exploring some more of how she will be able to keep the firm afloat amidst Faye Richardson’s arrival. She is from the New York Bar and in the midst of her threats to hurt the firm, she will be relied upon more than ever. This could be the true test of her might as COO.
Louis – We think that there is a lot of fun personal stuff to explore with him but now, we want to see him really lead. Early on in Suits, Louis was a power-hungry guy who loved himself and loved burning other people. Now, he’s more of a genuine person with a big heart. Getting a chance to see more of that from him is exactly what we want so he can go full-circle.
Katrina – With the Brian storyline now (hopefully) in the rear-view mirror, the hope is that Katrina can focus a little bit more on work — but also understand that she does need to find balance and establish more of a life outside of it. This feels like a chance to tell a story more about finding herself more so than her own legal aptitude.
Alex – His story is almost the blankest canvas entering the new season, given that we still don’t know that much about him personally in relation to the other characters — other than knowing he has a family. This would be a chance to see him step up and be the real problem-solver, since it’s felt in the past like he’s been the character constantly one-upped.
Samantha – Finally, this is the season to see her start to land on her own two feet without Robert Zane around. So much of her career was attached to him. She can form her own legacy and look towards her own future — and we’re very much excited to see more of what that looks like.
