Lucifer season 5: The possible timeline from now until premiere

Lucifer

What is so interesting right now entering Lucifer season 5 is that a lot has been said. Yet, when you really think about it, almost none of it has to do with the story. The show’s final-season renewal started up plenty of conversation as to whether or not it really is the end, and for now we have to accept it as so. It’s been an incredible journey, but we have to start preparing for things to wind down.

For the cast and crew of the series, the process is quite similar — therefore, why not put together a list of possible dates/timeframes to be aware of as we get closer to the home stretch? Not everything is etched in stone just yet, but there are several key milestones we expect the show to hit as we get closer to seeing the beginning of the end. Whether it goes for us or people who work on the series, the process of dealing with the end is somewhat similar.

Next month – The writers are going to get together in order to start thinking up scripts for the final season. There are ten episodes, and we would assume that the main order of business is to plot out where you want the season to go and all of the indidivual steps to get there. Take, for example, how long you want to leave our title devil in Hell. Since there is such limited real estate, we have to imagine that they make use of all of the time that they’ve got. The pace has to be fairly quick.

Late summer – We would presume that season 5 will try to keep a similar production window as season 4 and if that is the case, production should start rolling before we get around to late September. Las year, filming on season 4 formally began in August.

Late 2019 – Filing should wrap up for the series … which is already a statement that is making us emotional. We don’t want to imagine that and we’re sure for the cast it is every bit as tear-inducing. It’s their family ending a certain chapter of their story.

Spring 2020 – The campaign for Lucifer season 5 officially starts to ramp up. That means more promotional posters, teasers, and all sorts of other good stuff selling what lies ahead.

Late spring – The fifth and final season of Lucifer premieres. May feels like a fair estimation — maybe they could get the season together a couple of weeks early, but that is simply guesswork. This launch time seemed to work for season 4, so there’s no real realson to change it.
