Yellowstone season 3 adds Lost alum Josh Holloway in major role

Just in case you weren’t excited enough about the early Yellowstone season 3 renewal, here’s another reason to be. Sources confirm via Deadline that former Lost/Colony star Josh Holloway is being added to the Paramount Network series as a major recurring player in what’s going to be coming up next.

So who is Holloway going to be playing on the upcoming season? Think along the lines of Roarke Carter. What we know about this guy is that he’s a “handsome, charming, shaggy-haired hedge fund manager with ambitious plans in Montana.” This is a role that does suit to very much suit the actor, mostly because we know that he can play these sort of super-charming guys like the best of them. One of the reasons why Josh has been so effective in many of his roles over the years is that he comes across as that guy who you just want to be friends with — he can be really cool and friendly when he needs to be! Yet, because many of his characters have a little bit of that darker edge to them, he can also be that character who finds a way to screw you over right when he’s got you where he wants you.

The third season of Yellowstone has been confirmed to be ten episodes, and that keeps the show tightly-paced and chock full of excitement. While we definitely wish that there were longer orders here, we do think that Game of Thrones in a lot of ways really set the tone for what cable shows can do. It’s really all about supply and demand! If you don’t give viewers too much of any one thing, they then find themselves wanting so much more in the months in which the show isn’t on. It also does open the door for there to be more people who are able to catch up to the show and enjoy it, eventually, live. If you have too many episodes stashed away, it’s hard for anyone to be able to do that.

This Yellowstone gig marks the first major TV role for Holloway since the end of Colony. Following his time as the iconic Sawyer on Lost, he also had a brief run on the now-canceled series Intelligence. Hopefully, this show serves as a nice little bridge for him to get another major series-regular project in the future.
