Poldark season 5 spoilers: The latest on Geoffrey Charles, new faces

Poldark

Poldark season 5 looks to be maybe coming out next month, but rather than speculate too much on the premiere date, this CarterMatt article is all about the story! Consider this your opportunity to learn a few all-important details about the apparent final season of the show, one that will be as romantic and emotional as ever and show more evolution for these characters. Poldark is a world that keeps rolling forward like the tides hitting the rocks and this story will prove to be quite rocky for a few different characters.

Via a new issue of Radio Timeswhat we learned is that the new season of the BBC series will kick off in the year 1800. Things are going to be picking up emotionally where season 4 left off, as Jack Farthing’s character of George Warleggan is going to be coping with the departure of Elizabeth. He may be a louse much of the time, but we do think that he did actually love his wife. He had actually attempted to change for her and that is not something that he’s done for a whole lot of people out there.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth’s death is going to cause one member of the family (Geoffrey Charles) to consider new options for his life. He’s going to attempt to enter the military to get a fresh start — remember, George doesn’t exactly have a whole lot of love Elizabeth’s son from a prior relationship.

There are also going to be some new characters who stand out during the story. For example, Cecily Hanson is going to be a prominent abolitionist, someone whose beliefs put her at odds against much of her well-to-do family. Meanwhile, you will also see Kitty and Ned Despard, an interracial couple who are actually based on real people. While there will be plenty of familiar faces within this season, the goal is to bring you new parts of the world as the show enters a new century. Ross has more responsibility than ever before, and with George now somewhat unhinged, he could do whatever he can to shut him down.

Consider the fifth season to be a celebration of just about everything when it comes to Poldark — that means everything from romantic walks on the beach or fantastic action sequences. This is a show meant to be true to life, though the sweeping vistas and beautiful costume work do at times make it seem idyllic.
