Instinct season 2 episode 2 spoilers: The roller-coaster case

There’s a lot to look forward to this year in terms of summer television, but we certainly feel right now that CBS’ Instinct has to be up there good reason. It’s a fantastic mystery show that is willing to perplex its main characters along the way. They usually figure out the mysteries that they’re tasked with, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always easy. As a matter of fact, more often than not the cases feel borderline impossible as something always seems to throw them off the scent. We’ll see how the story evolves for them in the new season, but we feel like there are going to be a few more twists coming up.

We’ve already written a little bit about the upcoming June 30 premiere episode; moving into the second episode of season 2 on July 7, there will likely be some other challenges. How so? Well, think along the lines of a very dangerous murder case with someone getting shot aboard a roller coaster. How do you even do that? It’s a weird place to plan a murder since it doesn’t feel like you’d be that accurate. Plus, there’s also this: A limited suspect pool. Unless someone was sniping them from afar, it’s fair to muster that the killer may have also been aboard the ride. Maybe that was the intention and this is an ultimate frame job… (this is us trying to play detective on an episode of Instinct without even seeing the season yet. That’s just how we roll.)

“Broken Record” – Dylan and Lizzie investigate the murder of an aspiring musician who was gunned down on a roller coaster at an amusement park. Also, Lizzie exhausts herself trying to keep up with a newly single friend, and Andy and Dylan look to broaden their options for adoption, on INSTINCT, Sunday, July 7 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

We’ve already written a little bit about the story of Dylan and Andy trying to start a family together, so for now let’s talk a little bit about what we like about the Lizzie plot here. It feels relatable! A lot of times, you don’t get to see the lighter side of a detective’s life on any of these cop shows. We appreciate the fact that we’re getting a chance to explore a situation for this character that a lot of people have probably dealt with at some point in their lives. The newly-single friend wants to go crazy and do a lot of stuff, but if you’re a little more settled or in a relationship (we’ll see what Lizzie’s status is coming up), that means that you’re in a different spot. By the end of it, Lizzie may need to have a conversation or two with her pal about what she can and can’t handle.
