A Million Little Things season 2: Christina Ochoa on potential return

If you read the tea leaves — or at least heard Christina Ochoa speak recently — it seems likely that she’s returning for A Million Little Things season 2. We know that we’d like to see her back since we are talking about a character in Ashley with a fascinating arc, but one whose return was never 100%.

Luckily, in the event Ashley does come back, Ochoa has a lot of ideas as to how to tackle the character’s journey — and also the series’ at-times difficult subject matter. Speaking in a new interview right now with Popcorn Talk (promoting the fourth season of Animal Kingdom), she goes through some of the ground she’d like to cover:

“…She still holds a lot of secrets about Jon and about everybody else … I would like for Ashley to have some moments where we get to see her motivations and we get to explore that within relationships that don’t revolve around just [her] and Jon because that’s really where you got to see a little bit of her character.”

The objective for Ochoa in a potential return is to understand more of her motives and actions and, for some who didn’t fully understand her last time, to recognize that there is a fully-fledged character here. There’s someone with distinct thoughts and opinions, and someone who has obviously dealt with a lot of painful stuff. There’s a reason behind the secrecy that’s not just based on attitude and a season 2 story could unlock a lot of that.

Maybe we’ll have a better chance to explore some of this soon, as A Million Little Things season 2 is going to be kicking off its production shortly in Vancouver. For viewers, the wait is a little bit longer — think in terms of this fall, Thursday nights on ABC. There are plenty of other questions to answer about Barbara and some more-established characters, and we think that there will be room to take some of those on.

Amidst some of the spelunking for various clues and understanding, just remember to enjoy A Million Little Things within the moment. It’d be easy to label this series one about a mystery, but we think that it’s so much more than that — it’s really more about relationships. There are a million little things (fittingly) that form some of the bonds that we have in life. This is a show that is all about exploring them and navigating some of those ins and outs.
