House of the Dragon season 3 episode 4 preview: Rhaenyra’s decision

As we look more towards House of the Dragon season 3 episode 4 on HBO next week, one thing is abundantly clear: Rhaenyra has a tough choice on her hands. Right when it seemed as though she was getting a handle on life in King’s Landing, she realized just how much she had been played.

Moving forward, we do think a huge focus is inevitably going to be Rhaenyra trying to now figure out what she wants to do about Ormund, who has overtaken some of her territory. Could she send in some dragons? Sure, but that would lead to a loss of life. This is where Alicent could factor into the story once more, and in a way that could make the situation all the more messy.

Let’s just go ahead and throw the following out there — if you are Olivia Cooke’s character, are you not incentivized to stop the potential carnage? In allowing Rhaenyra to take the Iron Throne, you have already cast in your lot with someone. It is going to be really hard to walk that back! Because of this, you may have to try and convince Ormund to either stand down or leave, especially since he presumably has Alicent’s youngest son Daeron with him. Why would she want to risk something happening to him?

Beyond all of this, the other major question at this point is simply what is going to happen with Aegon and Aemond. These are, after all, two characters who were not present at all in episode 3. Don’t they still have a story to tell?
