The Son season 2 episode 7 preview: ‘Someone Get a Shovel’

The Son

Want to know what’s coming on The Son season 2 episode 7 next week? The name is “Someone Get a Shovel,” and the main focus of the story could be battles — ones of two different eras, and ones of two different kinds.

When it comes to Eli in the present, he has to figure out precisely what he wants to do in the midst of what can only be described as a blue-light bender. After getting drunk, he found himself amidst a mental quagmire — one themed heavily on the concept of trying to get his power back, if such a thing is possible.

In the preview for what’s coming up next tonight, Eli was told that he’d been outsmarted, and he was done on the other side of it. Is that really going to be it, though? If you want to follow along the story that we got tonight, we still think that Eli’s going to find a way to clutch that metaphorical blue light as he starts to look towards whatever his final story will be. This is an opportunity for him to take control of his empire, to prove himself as everything that he feels like he is. The product of his life experience.

Yet, here’s one of the most important things to think about here: While we know that Eli is the hero of his story, every single person out there

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official The Son season 2 episode 7 synopsis with some more news when it comes to what to expect:

The Comanches go to war in 1852. In 1916, the McCulloughs’ fight with Standard Oil reaches a breaking point. Eli takes a scalp.

Unfortunately, the reality at this point is that we know we’re building towards an endpoint sooner rather than later. Consider this a consequence of this being the final season of The Son and there only being so much longer that the writers are going to get to tell this story. When you think about how it could end, those who don’t know the source material should just consider legacy. That’s really what the entirety of the series is really all about. It starts with Eli, but it courses through Phineas and some other characters. It dives down into the past, and then it channels through to the future. There’s a lot that still needs to happen, and we just hope that it offers up hope to at least a few of the series’ more likable characters.
